Get familiar with New York City Timezone (NYT) |
Bagi Trader Non-US yang baru menekuni news trading, ada baiknya bila mulai membiasakan diri dengan zona waktu kota New York / NYT. Hal ini dikarenakan kebanyakan FOREX News Resources, seperti News Feeder, Forex Calendar site dan juga para News Trader gaek, selalu menggunakan local time kota New York sebagai kiblatnya.
Indonesia berada di timezone GMT+7, sedangkan kota New York USA adalah terletak di timezone GMT-5 atau UTC-5 atau disebut juga EST (Eastern Standart Time).
Jadi, normal nya waktu kita selisih 12 jam lebih cepat daripada kota New York.
Hanya saja, yang perlu kita cermati adalah, bahwa terkadang kita hanya selisih 11 jam dari kota New York. Hal ini terjadi pada saat kota New York mengaplikasikan DST (Daylight Saving Time). Dimana dalam satu tahun biasanya ada sekitar 6 bulan yang menggunakan DST ini. Timezone saat New York mengaplikasikan DST ini disebut juga EDT alias Eastern Daylight Time.
Jadi NYT without DST = EST sedangkan NYT with DST = DST.

Untuk tahun 2006 ini DST dimulai Minggu, April 2, 2006 jam 2 pagi waktu New York dan berakhir pada Minggu, October 29, 2006 jam 2 pagi waktu New York.
Dan berikut adalah DST untuk tahun2 berikutnya :
2007
Start: Sunday, March 11, at 2-3 AM
End : Sunday, November 4, 2007 at 1-2 AM
2008
Start: Sunday, March 9, at 2-3 AM
End : Sunday, November 2, 2007 at 1-2 AM

Dan berikut adalah contoh konversi NYT ke WIB :
Misalnya kita ketahui dari www.ForexFactory.com bahwa pada tanggal 6 Oktober 2006 8.30 am NYT akan ada News US Non Farm Payroll, maka kita perlu tahu saat itu DST sedang diaplikasikan atau tidak. Dengan mengunjungi link diatas akan kita ketahui bahwa pada saat tersebut NY sedang mengaplikasikan DST sehingga News tersebut akan direlease pada 6 Oktober 2005 tepat pukul 7.30 malam WIB yaitu selisih 11 jam dari 8.30 am NYT.
